Family & Divorce Proceedings

  • Acted for the respondent in a maintenance application, concerning back dated maintenance, and whether a parent neglects to pay child maintenance where he has no knowledge of being the biological parent. (XSR v XSS [2025] SGFC 108).
  • Represented the wife in divorce proceedings and successfully defended a High Court appeal filed by the husband, securing custody, sole care and control of the children, and the matrimonial property in a highly contentious case (VDF v VDG [2019] SGFC 135).
  • Represented the husband in divorce proceedings and successfully defended the wife’s appeal before the District Court, securing care and control of the young child in his favour (BEB v BEC [2012] SGDC 69).
  • Represented the wife in contested divorce proceedings following a 41-year marriage, involving disputes over the matrimonial asset pool and potential dissipation; secured a favorable mediated settlement preserving the matrimonial home and obtaining maintenance.
  • Represented the husband seeking reasonable access to children and variation of maintenance orders to reduce obligations in light of his new family.

Child Custody, Access & International Child Abduction

  • Advised the husband in an international child abduction case under the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction (HCCAICA), including guidance through the Singapore Central Authority, and acted as expert witness in proceedings before the Australian Family Court regarding custody rights and interim orders.
  • Represented a high-net-worth unmarried woman in negotiating a comprehensive Co-Parenting Agreement with the biological father, addressing financial arrangements, custody, visitation rights, travel arrangements, and the child taking the mother’s surname.
  • Secured an unprecedented shared care and control order, exceptionally rare in cases involving young children due to the required level of cooperation between divorcing parents with strained relationships.
  • Represented the wife in a family dispute, resulting in a court-ordered supervised access arrangement for the father to ensure the child’s safety and well-being.

  • Successfully obtained nullity of marriage for a Japanese client following two years of marriage.

Vulnerable Adults, Mental Capacity & POHA Matters

  • Represented a defendant in a complex Child Protection from Harassment Act (POHA) case involving a minor with special needs; successfully achieved resolution through court-mandated mediation.
  • Represented a client in a Mental Capacity Act application to be appointed deputy for a parent, successfully achieving a settlement where a contesting sibling agreed to joint application and repayment of outstanding debts to the estate.
