Common Questions about Divorce Mediation in Singapore

How Many Divorce Mediation Sessions Must I Attend?

If you engage us as your solicitor, we will prepare you for the mediation, attend the sessions with you , help you present your proposals, and help you negotiate terms.

Some cases have taken more than one session to resolve matter, and success at the first and only session is not uncommon. Mediation rarely takes more than 3 sessions unless there are in-principle agreements with fine details to be worked out.

What Happens if a Settlement for Divorce is Reached at Mediation?

If a compromise is reached, a settlement will be recorded by the Court in the form of a Consent Order after parties confirm their agreement to the District Judge. Subsequently, parties’ solicitors will do the needful paper work to extract it as a Consent Order, which is enforceable like any other Court Order. Steps will then be taken to extract the Final Judgment for Divorce after 3 months has elapsed since the date of the Interim Judgment for Divorce.
