Tris Xavier, our Head of Integrated Property Practice at Yuen Law, will be part of an insightful panel discussion on the management of intellectual property (IP) and intangible assets in insolvency scenarios, organised by Intellectual Property Office of Singapore.
For many companies today, their most valuable assets are intangible—patents, trademarks, trade secrets, proprietary software, and customer databases. But what happens to these assets when a company becomes insolvent?
- How do you identify and value intangible assets in distress?
- Who might be potential purchasers of the assets?
- What if different creditors disagree on how intangible assets should be dealt with, or subsequently challenge the price at which an asset has been sold?
- Can a distressed company transfer its IP before insolvency—and how can such transactions be challenged?
